In 2006, Samorn was invited to collaborate with The French Ministry of Culture to create couture pieces for the Métissage exhibition. The project was headed by former French Fashion Designer Frederic Molenac. He spent two months in Laos with Samorn and the weavers bringing his ideas to life. The pieces created were a modern interpretation of traditional hill tribe clothing. The theme was ‘Globalisation’. The pieces were first exhibited in Vientiane, Laos in March 2006 and then Paris June-August 2006. The Hmong Skirt was selected as part of a travelling exhibition that toured Europe and Japan in 2007-2009.
