This handwoven silk was dyed with rice paddy mud in Laos and took me 5 weeks to weave. The intricate embroidery was done randomly on a homemade frame loom, using vintage metallic gold thread sourced from Lyon, France. The embroidery was 3 months of painstaking work. Titled "We Are All Made of Stars," the piece measures 4m x 1.2m and was created for the Westpac Emerging Artist Prize in 2010. It narrates a story about our interconnectedness as human beings. It was an honour to be among a group of the finest Australian artists across all mediums.
